Sun shines on Village Day 2000 The weather forecasters predict a hot sunny day for Village Day 2000 as the community of Brookmans Park gathers for the annual fete. Last night dozens of families gathered to put the finishing touches to the arena and the stalls and will continue working up until the event opens at one oclock following a parade from the village green to the school playing fields. It promises to be an action packed day of family fun on the theme a day at the races. If you are a football fan, there is a competition to win a pair of David Seamans goalkeeping gloves on the day he stands between the posts as England take on Germans in their second match of Euro 2000. There will be an international food area along with a beer tent serving Pimms and real ale. There will be the usual stalls and sideshows and a childrens entertainer, bouncy castle and ball pool. A jazz band will be providing the background music and a local dance troop and theatre group will be entertaining the crowds. Money raised goes towards the Brookmans Park PTA funds to support the local primary school. The procession from the village green is at 12.30, the event is officially opened at 1pm and the grounds close around 5pm. June 17, 2000 Recent News |
