The cracks in Folly Arch appear to be
getting worse. Six months ago English Heritage told the North Mymms Green Belt Society
that it had made an offer of a grant to the owners for the cost of the work needed to
restore the listed building.

At that point the NMGBS expected the work to begin, as soon as the
weather improves.
But since then the summer has come and gone and there is no sign of any work taking
place.
Meanwhile the structure appears to have deteriorated.
It is two years since first signs of deterioration in the structure were reported on this site.
Remedial work was due to begin in September 1999 but that didn't happen and late last
year, when new cracks were spotted, English Heritage was approached again by the NMDGBS to
take action.
