Village Day's golden anniverary
Feature submitted by the Village Day Committee
Brookmans Park's Village Day is 50 years old this year and to mark the occasion the event will stage its own version of the popular TV show Britain's Got Talent. Brookmans Park's Got Talent, will feature acts by local children running throughout the afternoon.
The event starts with a fancy dress parade leaving Bradmore Green at 12.45 and making its way to Brookmans Park School. Organisers say they are looking forward to welcoming past and present residents, pupils, teachers and friends of Brookmans Park to join an afternoon of fun for all the family.
Head teacher at Brookmans Park School, Nathan Hairon, said all at the school are looking forward to the day. "It is wonderful for the school to again be hosting this popular local tradition. It is our view that encouraging a sense of community and local pride is important both to our pupils and the community we serve - and the children are very much looking forward to it." The chair of the Village Day committee, Fiona Patel, said the fact that this year is the event’s golden anniversary makes it a special occasion. "We are sure that this will again be a great day out for all the family with fun and activities aimed at children of all ages. Everyone is welcome come rain or shine," Brookmans Park Village Day is on Saturday 20 June. The parade starts at 12:45, the gates open at 13:00 and close at 17:00. The entrance fee is £1 for adults and 50p for children. You can discuss vilage day in this site's forum. 23 May 2009
