Station Road closed for a month
Part of Station Road, between Brookmans Park and Welham Green, is to be closed for four weeks from Monday 19 May.
This latest road closure is so that repairs can be carried out to the bridge between Potterells Medical Centre and St Thomas More Catholic Church. It looks as though the road will be open for access to Potterells from Brookmans Park and to the North Mymms Youth and Community Centre and St Thomas More Church from Welham Green.
The picture on the left is taken from the latest book published by the North Mymms Local History Society (NMLHS) entitled 'North Mymms Pictures From The Past', which is reproduced in full on this site. When the picture was taken, in 1903, the brook ran across the road forming a ford. In 1903 the spot was known locally as Watersplash and before that it was known as Water Cross. Now the brook runs under the road, and it is that bridge which is being repaired over the next four weeks.
