Family details now available online A new service which will help people research their genealogy has been set up by Hertfordshire County Council.People trying to trace their family history can now order copies of birth, death and marriage certificates online.
Now, thanks to Hertfordshire County Council, a person can have a certificate ordered in a matter of minutes simply by logging on to the authority's website where they can order a birth certificate, a marriage certificate or a death certificate. According to the authority, users only have to fill in a form and send it electronically back to the service. A copy certificate will usually be sent out within one working day the application being received. The certificate can be paid for by using a secure credit card facility. These services are for births, marriages and deaths that took place in Hertfordshire. Tom Hawkyard, Head of Statutory Services, said: "A lot of people use our services for tracing their family history and research purposes. Letting people get copies of certificates on line it makes our records more accessible. It is a fast, efficient service of which we are sure people will take advantage of and appreciate."
