Work has begun on the restoration of Folly Arch, more than four years after cracks started to appear in the listed structure.
According to the North Mymms District Green Belt Society (NMDGBS) the first task will be to underpin and stabilise the arch in order that work on the cracks can be carried out.
Metal supports have been holding the arch together since September 1999 after cracks in the structure widened.
Since 1999 several dates, including January this year, were given for the start of the repair work, but these have all slipped.
