The Conservative candidate Irene Dean has retained the Brookmans Park and Little Heath seat at the local elections, polling 1549 votes. Nigel Anthony Bain, of the Liberal Democrats, polled 361 votes, followed by Labour’s William Couzens, with 187 votes. Overall, the Conservatives won three more seats on Welwyn Hatfield District Council, taking their total to 31. Labour lost five seats, leaving a total of 15, and the Liberal Democrats won two seats on the council, having not had any representation in the previous council makeup. Euro Elections The UK Independent Party won two seats in the Easter Region of the European Elections. Labour and the Conservatives both lost one. The Lib Dems stayed the same with one seat. The Conservative Party now has three seats, UKIP has two, and Labour and the Lib Dems have one each. The candidates elected were:
