BMX track renovations completed Nearly 40 community minded adults, scouts and other children have helped rebuild the BMX Track at the North Mymms Youth and Community Centre.
Undeterred by the rain, the volunteers spent two days clearing the undergrowth and creating new jumps and other track features in the woods behind the centre. The new track is about three times as long as the previous one, with many more
features, including a stream crossing, that were not present in the previous track.
"I'd like to say a really big thank you to everyone who turned up to support the work we did," said Scout Leader James Bentall, who organised the work.
"It was an amazing effort, and it was really great to see so many people - particularly teenagers - there from the local community. Hopefully the work we've done will mean that young people will be able to use the course on their BMX bikes for a long time to come," he said.
James Bentall also thanked the committee of the North Mymms Youth and Community Centre for giving permission for the work to be carried out.
"I would be very interested in hearing from any other individuals or groups interested in carrying out this sort of community work around the Welham Green or Brookmans Park in the future," he added.
James Bentall can be contacted by phoning (01707) 275771 or by emailing scouts
The story was also carried in the Welwyn Hatfield Times.
