Bicycle theft warning The bicycle shed at Brookmans Park station has been broken into and at least one bicycle stolen. It is understood thieves smashed their way in through the roof. In an e-mail to this site, one commuter, who relies on his bike to travel daily to and from his home in Mymms Drive, issued a warning to all other cyclists who use the station bicycle shed. Can I bring to your attention the theft of a mountain bike from the railway station today. Those people who use the station frequently may be aware that cycle users have the facility for leaving cycles in a shed, which about a dozen people have a key for. This seems like a good idea and one I certainly welcomed as a newcomer to the village. However, the sense of security proved to be a false one, given that the thieves were prepared to smash through the roof to haul bikes out of the building. So, as well as the loss of at least one cycle, the station now has a storage shed with a damaged roof. I have no great hopes of ever seeing the bike again, but for the record, it was a silver Raleigh CroMax II, he wrote. June 29, 2000 Have Your Say Related news items Station
