Council handed second greenbelt petition
A month ago a 350-name petition was presented to the planning department as part of a campaign being run by the North Mymms District Green Belt Society (NMDGBS). The society is concerned about plans for three areas of green belt land near Welham Green which are being considered for possible development as part of the Welwyn Hatfield District plan review. They include:
The Society has held two public meetings in May and June. Almost 200 residents attended the first meeting and more than 100 attended the follow-up. Two Newsletters have also been circulated. The first brought in almost 400 replies and the second more than 525 responses. According to the NMDGBS all the latest responses were in support of the society’s stance. The planning inspector, Michael Clark, will now consider all the evidence and will report back to Welwyn Hatfield Council in March 2004 with his recommendations.
