Gobions track to close for repairs
The track, leading from Moffats Lane to the Gobions Open Space car park, is to be closed for two days for repairs.
The work, to be carried out on Thursday, January 23, and Friday, January 24, are an interim measure to eliminate potholes. The track is owned by the trustees of Gobions Woodland Trust, being part of Gobions Wood. It offers the only public vehicular access to the council-owned Gobions Open Space and its car park. The cost of the initial work will run to £2,200, with North Mymms Parish Council paying £1,000, and the rest coming from the Gobions Woodland Trust.
In the longer term, the trust hopes to provide a more permanent solution, with traffic calming, kerbs, etc. This depends on sufficient funding being available. There are a number of ways for people to access Gobions Open Space and Gobions Woodland while the work is being carried out. There are two entrances to the area in Mymms Drive, an entrance from the end of Bluebridge Avenue, and two entrances either side of the bridge on Bluebridge Road. The area can also be accessed from a path near Folly Arch to the south. However the only car park for the area, which lies at the end of the track, will be closed while the work is carried out.
