Anger over dog mess on vergesAnger is being expressed in this site's 'Have Your Say' section about dog owners who fail to clear up after their pets.
One correspondent is threatening to take retaliatory action.
It is not the first time this issue has been the subject of debate on these pages.
In the latest exchange, a writer from Oaklands says, “For all the people who walk their dogs in that road. If I see your dog mess outside my house on the grass verge again, and you don't pick it up, I'm going to pick it up and any others in the road. And, yes they are going to end up in your front garden! Lets see how you like it!!!!!!”
Another correspondent applauded the attitude, “I used to live there and my verge was a dog's toilet”.
He says that at one stage there was so much mess that he photographed the evidence and sent it to the council.
“The dog warden turned up with her dog which promptly added to the mess! 'There's nothing I can do unless I witness it' she said. The dog warden is someone who has found a cosy number, which allows her to indulge her hobby whilst getting paid for it,” he wrote.
And he suggests that the signs on the lampposts are pointless.
“The dogs can't read, the owners can't look up that far and of course their little pet is harmless and can't be a problem can it,” he continues.
