Police target crime in Welham Green
Welham Green’s residents and businesses are being asked to help the police tackle crime and disorder in the village.
The community’s Ward Constable, PC Sarah Dey, says everyone is needed to look out for and report on criminal activity in the village. She is calling for volunteers to help the police by being their eyes and ears in the community. PC Dey says she is already working with Hertfordshire Constabulary’s Youth Action Worker, Mel Head, to tackle issues such as anti-social behaviour involving young people. According to PC Dey, one 15 year old youth has been issued with an Acceptable Behaviour Contract and more are in the pipeline. Anti-social Behavioural Orders (ASBOs) are also being considered in other cases. Now, the ward constable wants the community’s support to help set up neighbourhood, business, and shop watches. Anyone interested in being a watch coordinator for their road, shop, or business should contact PC Dey on 01707 638112. If there is no reply, please leave a voicemail. If you would like to report any crime or incident, please ring PC Dey in the strictest confidence or you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. You can discuss this in the Forum 4 December 2004
