Welwyn Hatfield Council says it has now received confirmation from English Heritage that the owners will be repairing the substructure to the arch in January, 2003.
The council’s planning department says that part of this contract will include repairs to the cracks that have been appearing over recent years.
According to the latest report from the North Mymms Green Belt Society, which has been campaigning for the restoration of Folly Arch for some years, the immediate repair work will be to underpin and stabilise the structure before work on the cracks can begin.
