Positive response to jubilee celebration plan

An estimated 1,200 houses in Brookmans Park have received leaflets setting out details of the planned jubilee celebrations for the village.

A team of volunteers – brought together through discussing the issue in the forum – printed and delivered the flyers door to door.

A member of the team has mailed the site to thank all those who responded and says that so far they have had about 60 positive replies.

The team is meeting again next week and members are planning to hold a public meeting in the near future to try to find out if more people want to be involved in organising the event.

The team is still keen to hear from anyone who is interested in attending or helping to organise the day. You can mail the team at jubilee-at-brookmans.com.

The flyer is reproduced below along with a form which you can print out, fill in and pass on. Alternatively there is an e-mail address below.

Brookmans Park
Queen's Golden Jubilee Celebration

Would you be interested in celebrating the Queen's Jubilee in the village?

A small group of people in the village is interested in trying to organise a golden jubilee celebration on June 1. The idea that we have had is to have some sort of 50s themed event during the late afternoon and evening based at the Brookmans in the centre of the village. We could have 50s music, a buffet, people dressed in 50s clothes and 50s décor.

However, before we go much further, we need to find out who would be interested in attending!

We are very keen to make this an event suitable for everyone, whether young or old. For this to work we need ideas and support from other people in the village.

We are also keen to ask people who remember the coronation of the Queen and who lived in the village to write down their memories from that year. These would be compiled and published and could be a fascinating historical snapshot of how Brookmans Park used to be 50 years ago.

If you have any ideas, comments or suggestions, please let us know by returning the slip below or posting a message on the Brookmans Park community website www.brookmans.com

If we don't get enough response it won't be feasible to do anything, so please reply and let us know your thoughts.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. You can print out and fill in and return the section below between the dotted lines.
