An
Invitation to the 21 October 1999 The Governors would like to invite you to the Annual Meeting for Parents and Governors which will take place in Brookmans Park School Hall at 7.30 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the report, which was sent to you earlier this week. Should sufficient numbers of parents attend the meeting, formal resolutions may be passed for the attention of the governors. We are most fortunate this year in having secured a guest speaker to address our Annual Meeting, and I am sure that many parents will be interested in hearing what he has to say. George Shiells, the Chairman of the Governing Body at Chancellors School, has kindly accepted our invitation, and will talk about the background to Chancellors recent changes in admissions criteria, as well as future plans for the development of the School. As many parents will know, there was a good deal of debate during the summer about the changes Chancellors proposed, and in accordance with the Schools Adjudicators recent decision, they have been amended, though not to the extent that some parents would have liked. Nevertheless, a decision has been made, fairly and impartially, and we have accepted it. The most important thing now is that we look to the future, and re-establish the close relationship with Chancellors that we previously enjoyed. We understand that some parents may still have strong views on this subject, but we have assured Mr Shiells that any discussion will be constructive and well mannered, and I know that we can count on all concerned to be civil. Please do come along - there is much to be gained from building bridges, and nothing from burning them. There will be a reception from 7.30 p.m. and Mr Shells will speak at 8.00 p.m. I hope to see you then. Yours sincerely Jeremy Silverstone October 11, 1999 Have your say Do you think Chancellors new admission criteria is fair? Should the Schools Adjudicator rule against Chancellors or do you think the proposed changes are better? Have Your Say Recent news:
