I dont think it is appropriate in the event of a fatality that photographs should be used in the media, It is disrespectful to those in mourning, report the necessary facts, no more.

I disagree. I think may drivers don't realise how horrific a crash can be. Seeing what can happen could help.

From Herts police...

Appeal following serious collision in Hatfield

Dear Watch Member,

Officers investigating a collision in Hatfield are appealing for information and witnesses.

Just after 3am today (Monday, April 24) a silver Vauxhall Corsa was in collision with a tree in Great North Road (A100) between Welham Green and Brookmans Park.

The fire service attended to cut free a woman, aged in her 30s, who was trapped inside the vehicle. She has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital in London where she remains in a critical condition.

Officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Roads Policing Unit are working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the collision.

Sergeant Richie Barker from the BCH Roads Policing Unit said: “I am appealing for anyone who saw the vehicle shortly prior to the collision to contact police.

“We have established that the Vauxhall Corsa, which has a registration plate number starting with YS59, was in the Welwyn area at around 12.55am today and I am also keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the vehicle around this time.”

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Hertfordshire Constabulary via the non-emergency number 101, quoting ISR 52 of 24/4/17.

Alternatively, contact the independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through their anonymous online form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
