Bikes damaged at Brookmans Park train station
« on: May 16, 2017, 10:36:09 pm »
Returned this evening to find my bike had been vandalised. Wheel buckled and frame damaged. There was another bike that had suffered the same, there may have been others but they'd been removed. No obvious attempt at the lock, just mindless damage. Reported to the police.
Did anyone spot anything today, or notice the damage any earlier during the day? It would be good to get an idea of when it happened as police reviewing cctv.

The same happened to my husband's bike last night! It's the second time in a matter of weeks!

I unlocked my bike at 4.40pm yesterday. It was fine. I think, havening seen the damage to one of the bikes this morning, had the vandalism taken placed by then I would have noticed it.

Thanks Southbury but are you referring to Tuesday 16/5? That's when this happened.

British Transport Police have been in touch and are pursuing this. I mentioned this thread and they'd be grateful if anyone with information, or others affected, could let them know directly on:
Telephone: 0800 405040
Crime Ref: 1700033012

Southbury - would you be able to pass on your info to them please? They're going to request the CCTV and as it was broad daylight, as long as footage is available and decent quality, think they'll be able to get the images of the offender(s).

I had my bike damaged the same evening and as my wife mentioned above this is the second time it's happened to me.

I got back at 19:30 to find 3 bikes mine included all damaged. I'll contact the police on the numbers provided and have also logged this with the train company who are investigating.

I took this photo at 10:37 this morning.  Not sure if this is new damage or if someone had an uncomfortable ride to the station this morning.

So, I heard back from British Transport Police...
The bad news: The CCTV wasn't working  ::)
The good news: It is now.

Strongly detected frustration on their part that responsibility for cctv lies with the railway company who don't seem bothered to maintain it and check it's working.

Its a shame as the one by the ticket office you can be sure will be operational. Maybe park outside post office-more people around so less likely hood of crime maybe?

Probably done by the people drinking just behind the bike shed (you need to go up on the bank and then down the slope), place is full of rubbish, vodka bottles, smashed glass etc, I reported it, nothing yet...
