Please take the opportunity to come and talk to us, alternatively contact me via this forum or by email  gary (dot) clements (at) enterprise(dot) plc (dot) uk, I look forward to meeting you

Gary

Could someone tell me why the water mains need replacing, when this work was carried during the imposed water meter trial period forced upon this area back in the late 8o's. Since then Bradmore Way road has been planed and resurfaced, will this mean more holes, leading to pot-holes due to poor re-surfacing?

Hi  there are a number of reasons why the pipes are being replaced in the area,  Affinity will have identified that there have been a number of bursts in the area, replacing the pipes will reduce leakage from the water network. The cast iron pipes that are in already place will corrode over time, consequently if we don't replace  the pipes, they weaken further and become more prone to bursting.
You mention that you were disrupted in the 80s, I understand that this work was not to replace the main but install meters. The techniques that we use have improved significantly since that time. Yes there will holes in the road but the methods we use will be less intrusive than those of the 80s.

You will receive a booklet and a letter if your road is affected , approximately two weeks , prior to the work commencing that explains our techniques and the systems we use. Alternatively, please come and see us on the open days.

I will post  attachments that are the internal pages of the booklet this will answer your questions in further detail

I trust that this answers your query

All work of this nature is inspected after reinstatement by the Highways Authority and local Council. Any defects must be rectified. Failure to remedy can lead to extremely expensive fines. It is therefore not in the interests of Enterprise or Affinity to carry out poor work.

Hi Gary,

It is now. I have fixed it. For future reference you need to copy the pdf link and paste it in your forum message (as you did). However, you then need to highlight the link and click the pdf button in the tool bar (image below).

Doing that puts this code either side of your link.

Code: [Select]
[pdf][/pdf]
And when you save, the pdf will appear embedded in your post.

 :)

Hi   can I thank everyone who took the time to attend the information days at Brookmans. I trust you found it informative and we managed to answer all your questions.

Calder Avenue is the first road we will start, the work is scheduled to start from 30 November 2012 and will take approximately two weeks to complete.

The letter drop to the residents (with further information) will be completed by the end of this week. We will also deliver the letter to Woodland and Shrublands as water interruptions may affect these properties.

Any questions please feel free to post them here and I will answer them to the best of my ability

Hi you may have noticed that work has commenced in Calder Avenue.
There will be various vehicles during the day that will be moving equipment around the site. I was on site yesterday and noticed that it is part of the local schools runs.

Could you please ensure that you reduce your speed and take extra care whilst driving through Calder Avenue, this  will help to ensure that our team work safely and also enhance the safety of the local residents who walk to school.

Many Thanks

Gary

Hi, just to give you a quick update, if everything goes according to plan - we expect to be fully completed in Calder Avenue, around the middle of next week.

I will be delivering letters to the residents of Peplins Way and Pelins Close today, with work starting towards the end of this  week. This will potentially impact upon the school runs in the area and you should allow more time to get to the school.

The work will continue in Peplins Way and Close after the New Year and we will be closing all excavations prior to the Christmas and New Year break

Hi  hope you all had a great Christmas and can I take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year.
Our programme of work will reconvene in Peplins Way and Peplins Close this week 7 January 2013.

We anticipate starting in Brookmans Avenue and The Close from 14 January 2013. The work will  affect  house numbers 1- 35 and The Close as well as the adjacent even number houses. The work will take approximately three weeks and will impact upon the on road parking outside these houses. A letter drop to the these properties advising of the work will  be undertaken this week

As usual if you have any questions, please free to ask

Hi   just a quick update for all residents/visitors/ commuters who park on the road between numbers 1-35 Brookmans Avenue.
Parking will be severley restricted during our work which commences 14 january 2013 for 3 weeks. It will help us enormously if alternative parking can be found. This will enable to us to complete the work and have minimal impact upon other road users and the local community.

We will be putting leaflets on all cars in that area advising them to find alternative parking for the duration of the work

many thanks for your co-operation

Hi you may well have noticed us on Brookmans Avenue, well we are steadily moving towards Bradmore Green. The work around the "triangle" will take approximately 3 weeks to complete starting for early/mid next week.

We will have to put temporary traffic lights in place for part  of the duration of the work. These will impact upon your journeys times  and you should allow more time especially during the school runs.
If you have not got my contact details, please feel free to contact me via the forum or on my email address listed

Hi Gary, thanks for all the info. To embed a pdf in your post you first need to upload it to a server.

You can do this free of charge with Scribd http://www.scribd.com/.

Once you have the link you simply copy and paste it into a post in the forum and add the pdf code either side. Like this.

Not very useful as I can't see the image.

Looking at the URL it points to it looks like a local file on your PC - i.e. you might be able to see it but no-one else can.

Hi,   yes sorry about the file , it seems that my IT skills leave something to be desired. However, i understand from our gang working in Brookmans Park that they 3 way lights were not used, consequently we did not impact upon the local traffic as much as we thought we would do.

The work in the area is nearing completion with all work due approximately in late/ end of february 2013.

I do hope that you have found my updates helpful despite my lack of IT skills to post the pictures correctly .

It would be appreciated if you could direct any positive comments about the work, gang and communications directly back to Affinity Water  on 0845 782 3333 or alternatively     https://www.affinitywater.co.uk/your-experiences.aspx  and add Enterprise Brookmans Park as name of team member or leave  your comments here on this forum

Many thanks for your patience and understanding during our work
if anything changes meantime I will let you know

walked down Brookmans Ave yesterday and must say the contractors have left the verges unsightly and in most cases not as they were found.

Also the grab lorry driver should have shown more consideration by allowing cars to pass freely by parking his vehicle two foot closer to the muck he was lifting, he and the team seemed to enjoy watching people struggle through, that is the ones that didnt have to turn back because of the obstruction caused.

sorry i cant post anything positive.

We had to complain. They buried our water meter and the water people had to dig out the rubble. Our front isn't brilliant either.

Hi  just to respond to the comments regarding Brookmans and the grass verges, I do assure you that all verges will be top soiled and reseeded prior to us leaving the area.
I am happy to receive all comments  especiallyif there is something of concern, I will continue to respond to questionsor  and eradicate any problems or issues.
I apologise if you were given the impression that the team on site were getting some fun or enjoyment  from blocking the  access and roadway, I can assure you that this not the case. The grab drivers would only in a specific location loading or unloading for a few minutes and I do assure you it a vital part of the work we do

my criticism wasnt that you were using a grab lorry, just the way it was positioned, please read my post.

I witnessed the guys behaviour as i was there and it was as i said.

The whole area would benefit from a good sweep around the works completed, that is good practice and at least gives the perception of skill and care.
