CCTV for illegal drivers
« on: April 11, 2009, 07:02:16 am »
Big brother, over the top, loss of privacy, or a great idea?

From the BBC...

Quote
CCTV cars snap distracted drivers
New CCTV cars to catch drivers using their mobile phones or being otherwise distracted at the wheel are being piloted by Greater Manchester Police. The small Smart cars, which have a 12ft (3.6m) mast with a camera attached, are parked at junctions to monitor traffic.

Perhaps the only problem round here would be whether they could keep up with the number of infringements. I don't think the mobile phone message has got through to everyone, let alone the advice on speeding.

If it will stop my partner shouting very loudly, "Get off the 'phone!!!!" , then it's got to be good.
