Both the 06:34 and 06:54 to London cancelled this morning. What a rubbish service. Of course there is no compensation for the extra cost of driving and parking. Made a fitting screen grab from the Sainsbury's festive ad.   ::)

From the Great Northern site (see grab below), but contradictory tweets. First sent 06:15 and the second at 06:46. Probably fair to say they have no idea what's going on.  :icon_scratch:

Service bad again. Rail replacement on Sunday, ticket office closed this morning, 7.42 cancelled at short notice, 7.57 six minutes late, and the 22.16 from Moorgate cancelled this evening. I recall one of Great Northern's excuses was that it takes 14 months to train a driver. Well they've had the franchise for over two years now, so the problem is clearly of their own making.
They're getting away with it, and there seems to be nothing to stop them.

Service bad again. Rail replacement on Sunday

I quite like it when they put on replacement buses as at least they aren't cancelled!  Unfortunately, a lot of the drivers don't seem to know where they're going, which happened twice on Sunday with the drivers asking for directions from passengers.

Has there been an incident on the line to cause so many cancellations, or is it just the increasingly common shoddy service?

This really is getting beyond a joke, trains late in morning on way to work then messed up on way home so late home also...its seems to be everyday there is a problem. Oh and another moan, When was it suddenly OK to stand still on both sides of the escalators at Moorgate...its becoming a log jam at the top of the escalators every evening as people are not walking down on the left hand side, STAND on the RIGHT and WALK down on the LEFT, same way it has been forever, then there will not be a crush at the top of the escalator, or at least a less of a crush anyway

Today 8.27 arrived at Moorgate 15 minutes late. 8.44 cancelled. Ticket office closed again. 22.16 from Moorgate this evening cancelled. It gets no better.

Great Northern treating travellers with contempt again tonight. WGC trains at 16.44 and 18.14 cancelled, and two consecutive trains from Moorgate (17.42 and 18.12) also cancelled. I expect it will be rail replacement buses again tomorrow. Great Northern will soon propose cutting all weekend services on the grounds that nobody uses them!

Has there been an incident on the track tonight or is this just another sign of a shoddy service?

Their twitter feed reported damage to overhead power lines at Hatfield

The 9.58pm arrived at Brookmans Park only a couple of minutes late so the overhead line problems had been resolved fairly quickly. The station staff at Finsbury Park said don’t rely on the Train Apps as they can often be misleading i.e. later ‘cancelled’ trains may actually run on time like last night so best check at the station first before catching a bus/tube/cab!

The latest train arrivals and departures widget on the front page is not working at the moment. The note suggests the feed is being blocked. Not sure how much people rely on these updates - we certainly check them every day. If Matthew (the guy who captures the data) can't sort it, then we will have to try to find another solution.

The train update is something I use a lot, not having an I-thingy. It will be a shame to see it go.

Matthew, the bloke who wrote the code for the latest train times updates on the front page of the site, has come up with a temporary fix.

Not great for anyone travelling this evening and having to wait an hour.

Commuter info:
An annual season ticket from Brookmans Park to Moorgate/Kings Cross goes up from £2088 to £2124 from Monday 2/1/17 (1.7% rise), so you may want to consider renewing before then to save yourself £36.

Another cancellation tonight, the 20:14 Moorgate train cancelled.

I actually got the 20:12 to Hatfield and got the 20:28 fast train back to Potters Bar which was quicker than waiting for the next Moorgate bound train

Not sure whether my ticket (BP - PB) would have been valid even though that was the route I took even if via Hatfield

Be sure to leave enough time if you are travelling by train to and from BP today.
