LOL!!  :)

I think the trick is to buy a return to Hadley Wood and then a travel card from there but I'm sure others will know more

Something I find very surprising is that FCC can be allowed to hold the franchise without adequate resources to run a service.

You do have to wonder why they don't hire more drivers so there is no need to work rest days.

The trains were diabolical tonight. I arrived at Moorgate to find people three deep the length platforms and all trains not cancelled were delayed. The announcement then came that the next train would be three carriages! You'd think that with too few drivers there wouldn't be any shortage of carriages for the trains they did manage to run.

Last night - just not impressed.  :( Got to FP with a couple of minutes to spare to catch 18:20 train to WGC...cancelled. Next train delayed. Didn't get on it as it was very busy, but with some standing/squish yourself on room available. Thought I'd wait for the all stations WGC train that was meant to come in after in a few minutes. This was further delayed and when it did turn up it was sardined. Waited for the next delayed WGC train, short formation but managed to get on it. Had to get off at PB to wait for next train that would stop at WG. Further delayed. So all in all it took me 2 hrs to commute home last night.  >:(

If the train drivers are complaining about no wage increase come the new year (and welcome to the real world - I didn't get one this year and I suspect I won't next year either), then by not working overtime won't they have less money?!! Isn't this called cutting your nose to spite your face?!  :-\

I was especially annoyed about last nights trains as immediately prior to leaving the office at 6:30 I checked the FCC (well journeycheck) web site which reported all trains on time.

It seems as if they update it when there are a few problems but don't bother if there are major ones.

Trains look bad today:

Quote
06:25 Welwyn Garden City to Moorgate due 07:13

This train will be cancelled.
This is due to snow.

Quote
08:30 Welwyn Garden City to Moorgate due 09:20

This train will be formed of 3 coaches instead of 6.
This is due to snow.

They were rubbish last night.

The last 2 WGC trains were cancelled at the last minute so I ended up at Cuffley calling a taxi.  Luckily I just made it home by 12 so I didn't turn into a flaming pumpkin! >:(

I got stuck at Potters Bar. The cab place at the station was closed too and I had to walk home - though less than one inch of snow! What is it this time? This is one of the smallest snow falls I've seen

Days like this show the great divide between people who will battle through to get to work regardless of the weather and those who have the sense to set up a work from home contingancy

The prospect of having many small 10 yr olds in my front room to teach doesn't really appeal...

To quote John I "battled" in. Trains were running and  is no problem in town so not much of a battle!

Snow getting thicker and heavier - don't fancy my chances on the trains or London buses - a couple of weeks ago my 20 min bus journey took 2 hours in bendy bus that slid everywhere! Made executive decision to work from home today too.  ;D

Too right, Sasqartch.

I reckon JF's a bit of a fair weather commuter.

He missed an exciting journey in - standing all the way, much slower than normal, angry people unable to squeeze on, angry people trying to squeeze off at Finsbury Park & Old Street, very hot being crushed together, open window, close window, much closer acquaintance with various parts of fellow commuters' anatomies.

I can't wait for the journey home.

Re: Working from home.

We have set up facilities for a lot of our staff to work from home. Unfortunately it seems that for every two staff working from home we need one exta member of the IT department to answer their questions!!!!  ;)

I always wonder why people who can’t use a system when they are in the office (because they can't find time for training) expect that they’ll magically be able to use it when working remotely from home? ???

Evening all,

I work near Archway station and the company has a car park.  Normally get the train into town, but will drive if the strike goes ahead.  Am very happy to do a car share with anyone who can get the tube from there.  Space permitting, could possibly book another car sharer into one of our visitor bays too - instant message me about that if you are thinking of driving in.

Hopefully it won't happen of course...

...and at least we're not flying abroad for work on BA right now...

Cheers,
Aidan
