Village Day
« on: May 20, 2007, 07:20:44 pm »

Just to let you know that Village Day will be taking place on Saturday 16th June, starting at Brookmans at 12:45. The school gates will be open at 1:00pm. This year's event has been themed as International Day.

We have an array of activities taking place throughout the afternoon - displays from BMX bikers, the local karate and ballet groups. We have jousting, bungee trampoline, bouncy castles, tombolas, football and bingo, to name just a few. There will also be a live auction taking place.

The Village Day Committee are extremely grateful to all the local charities from the area coming along as well as numerous external business supporting the event. Please let me know if you require any further information but I just wanted to let you know so you can put the date in your diary! Many thanks in anticipation of your support.

Request for help: If anyone can help with the following items required for the stalls at Village Day, it would be much appreciated.

CRAZY KITCHEN - We need any old or broken crockery for this stall.

FIND THE WINE - Any donations of bottles of wine will be gratefully received.

TOMBOLA - Tombola gifts.

BRIC-A-BRAC - We require children’s toys, videos, books etc for the stall, but NO SOFT TOYS.

Please PM and I can arrange to have them collected.

Many thanks,

Hi Carrie,

Many thanks for your wine offer - that would be great. If you click on the envelope icon on the left hand side (under my name) then you can email me your address and I shall come and collect them.

Thanks again, Belinda

Hi Belinda and Carrie,

Unfortunately, the Instant Message system only works after a certain number of posts.

This was introduced to prevent spamming after an particularly nasty incident recently.

However, without giving the game away, Carrie has already reached that point and Belinda is almost there.

As for emailing, the envelope Belinda refers to will only appear for Belinda and administrators. This is because it's been set to hide the email address. You can change this in your profile so the envelope appears and people can mail you directly.

The best solution, until Belinda posts a few more times, is to use the phone number on the story on the front page.

Or not as the case may be, as unfortunately the people we were hiring it off have let me know that it is broken :(

Still, we've got a nice water balloon catapult game ('Water Wars') to bring along instead.

I have found the button but what or which web address do you put between the tags?

Hi Bob,

Sorry,

When you click that button it inserts this code in your message...

Code: [Select]

[img][/img]

At that point you put the web address (URL) to the picture you want people to see.

For example

Code: [Select]

If you want to direct people to a page of pictures, do the following.  Click on the button that looks like a globe.

You will add this code to your message.

Code: [Select]

You can then either put the link in between the tags like this...

Code: [Select]

http://www.bobbrillsnaps.com

or you can hide the link like this.

Code: [Select]

Bob's Brill Pics

James sent over some trendy out of focus pics of Village Day, most taken before anyone got there. Click here

Can anyone do any better?

 ;)

On behalf of the Village Day committee, I would like to say a huge thank you for coming to support our event on Saturday.

It would seem that the inter-changeable weather did not deter too many people and I am delighted to say that over £11 000 was raised for PTA funds. A huge thank you again for supporting the school.

I'm not sure how much was raised last year. But, we did well due to holding a raffle and auction. I know that there was no auction last year and that on its own raised just under £3000 which massively boosted funds.
