POLICE are appealing for information about a Potters Bar burglary on Tuesday November 21.

Between 10am and 1pm, offenders gained entry to a bungalow in Park Avenue by breaking a window. After making an untidy search, they made off with an amount of jewellery and presents.

DC Paul Spencer, investigating the incident, said: “This really is a nasty crime. It is obvious that an elderly person lives at the address. The 78-year-old female householder had her engagement, wedding and eternity rings stolen, as well as a number of presents which she had bought for her grandchildren.

“We won’t tolerate elderly people being targeted by criminals and we would hope that anyone who has any information about the offenders would be as disgusted by this crime as we are. If you know anything, please contact police. Don’t let these people go unpunished.”

Police would also like to hear from anyone who has been approached by someone selling jewellery recently.

Anyone with information should contact DC Spencer on 01727 796 672 or alternatively, telephone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
