Just to let you know that this years Village Day is on Saturday 17th June.

Human Table Football will be there again and we're hoping to arrange a large screen telly so the footy fans can keep in touch with the world cup - Iran V Portugal

If you want to book a pitch let me know and I'll put you in touch with the organisers.

Phil

Hi Phil,

Could you possibly send me some details of this so we can cover it in the paper and book a photographer nice and early! I am going to try and cover it personally myself too, but unfortunately I am now photographer!

Best Wishes

Laurel

P.S. I am a reporter from the Welwyn and Hatfield Times, in case you didn't know. It would be good to speak to you in person about this, if you are an organiser. Would you be able to give me a ring on 01707 327551 or alternatively, I can ring you!?

Opps - sorry... That was a typo!

It was supposed to be 'unfortunately I am NO photographer'!

I am just a humble reporter - that's why I need to reserve our professional photographer to do the job while I do the reporting! His photos will be infinitely better than anything I could ever take...

It's also important for those involved in such events to update the information in the site's What's On Diary, otherwise people won't know about it.

The current entry for Village Day says "Brookmans Park Village Day held at Brookmans Park School. More details to follow nearer the time. "

The details in this site's What's On Diary for Brookmans Park Village Day are still sketchy.

Brookmans Park Village Day held at Brookmans Park School. More details to follow nearer the time.

If anyone involved wants to attract more attention they should consider updating this as there are just two weeks to go.

Remember, What's On entries appear in a box on the top left of the front page as the events approach, thereby offering extra publicity.

Thanks to whoever added the information for St Mary's summer fete.

It's a bit of a given, the scouts being there. I have spent a fiver on the Brookmans Park Scouts tombola for the last ten years - anything else going on?  Done quite well, actually.

Is anyone interested in writing reports about any of the summer school fetes taking place throughout North Mymms? This year we are inviting local residents to report on these events by posting their accounts and pictures in the Brookmans Park Newsletter's new Weblog.

Someone has volunteered to cover the St Mary's Summer Fair on June 24 and post to the Weblog.

Thanks for that.

We still need volunteers for the other summer fetes.

So, it's now Monday night here in NZ and I can see no indication that Village Day actually happened.  I love to look at the photos and see if there is anyone I know.

Please update the site and whoever was reporter for the day please file report.

Thanks, C

Unfortunately someone I was expecting to materialise to help me on the stall I was running didn't, so I did not get a chance to go around with a camera this year. I hope someone else did! Therefore the only picture i can offer is the one of the inflatable assault course I was running (below)

I can confirm village day definately happened though!

Apologies for the lack of coverage of the summer fetes so far. We depend on the community to send in reports via the weblog and this is a voluntary effort based on whether people have the time to do so or not.

We are still looking for local residents to be correspondents for this site. If anyone wants to contribute news items, please send me a message and I will make you a member of the weblog.

Articles written there will be included in the main site on merit.

Thanks

David

The Lochinver School Fete on Saturday will have a large screen showing the football. Might be a good place to cheer England on.
