...And if you haven't "subscribed" to the brown bin? What, food waste goes in the black bin? But brown bin subscribers still have a black bin, so what's the problem if they put the food waste in that? Surely it's better to have food confined to one waste stream borough-wide?

I emailed the council earlier to check. I received the following reply:

I confirm that if you have subscribed to the new garden waste service food waste can now be placed in the brown bin.
We do ask that the food waste is not wrapped in newspaper but compostable bags can be used.

I'm sure I read somewhere that we can. I've been brown-binning food waste for the last month with no problems.

Still no official notification from the Council that we may put food waste in the brown bin.  We are not doing so - cannot risk the whole bin being rejected as "contaminated".

General Issues / Re: Rememberance Sunday

There was a very good attendance at St. Marys Church for the Remembrance Service yesterday and it was good to see the youngsters from various local groups taking part. The local branch of the Royal British Legion are very well supported on this occasion but it is sad that that people are reluctant to become members - North Mymms is a very friendly branch!  GP

Angel, I asked James Gillett the station manager about the lights and he just responded

We had electrical contractors there end of last week looking at the lights on the footbridge.  They should now be working.

Will wait and see if they are on this week I guess...

A few months ago I saw some electricians fixing lights along the bridge to the platforms.  So far I've never seen these lights working (granted I don't often travel in the dark) but surely now it's getting dark much earlier shouldn't these lights be working?

It would have made sense to also put (working) lights on the bridge by the road.

Welham Green / Welham Green Defibrillator
« Last post by mymmspics on November 10, 2017, 05:35:22 pm »
Thanks to fund raising efforts by the North Mymms Memorial Hall, Welham Green has its own defibrillator mounted on the outside wall for the benefit of all.

On Sunday 19th Nov. 1.45 for 2.00pm as part of the rededication of the War Memorial Plaque in the Hall there will be demonstrations of how to use defibrillators by trained first responders, (Brookmans has one on the front of the URC Church) they will be able to take you trough the steps needed.

The Hall is also 60 years old this month and there will be a display of photos and documents

All are welcome, teas & home made cakes all donations to the Royal British Legion.
