Title: Broxbourne Wood Sculpture Trail - free 1km walk, ideal for kids
Post by: Editor on June 17, 2017, 03:55:02 pm
Parents - if you want a nice walk, ideal for the kids, mostly in the shade, and doable with a push chair, try the 1km Broxbourne Wood Sculpture Trail. Follow the red path. Free car parking, clear, way-marked path, loads of wonderful wooden sculptures - and one made of metal (view it from the bridge so that all the parts line up) - and loads of butterflies and flowers along the way. Map and some pictures below. See if you can spot all the sculptures.

Hi Chicken Legs,

Here you go.

Broxbourne Wood East car park at junction of Brickendon Green and Pembridge Lane. Hi David

We went with two very small grandsons yesterday and it was brilliant.  I wouldn't have wanted to walk anywhere else but in a wood in that temperature so it was excellent timing on your part.  So good that the two-year-old could walk freely and even lead the way.  Thank you for the suggestion.

Lovely, we chose Broxbourne Woods last weekend because we knew it would be sheltered from the sun. We have longer walks there in our collection of 60 Local Country Walks. We have:

Walk 26 - Broxbourne Wood South Loop (http://www.brookmans.com/walks/Walk26_Broxbourne_Wood_Circular_South.shtml) - 5.45 miles (8.8 km)
A lovely walk through ancient woodland. It's well signposted throughout. Just follow the waymark posts with the green arrows and the White Admiral butterfly. Can't go wrong. About half way round you could take a detour to The Woodman & Olive at Wormley West End (check opening times first).

Walk 27 - Broxbourne Wood North Loop (http://www.brookmans.com/walks/Walk27_Broxbourne_Wood_North_Loop.shtml) - 6.45 miles (10.4 km)
Another magnificent walk through the enchanting Broxbourne Woods, this time taking the northern loop. As with the southern loop, featured here, the northern path is well signposted throughout. Just follow the waymark posts with the green arrows and the White Admiral butterfly. Can't go wrong.
