Title: Is Bulls Lane meant to be closed or did they just forget to move the signs?
Post by: Editor on August 01, 2016, 06:22:44 pm
Having walked it and found it open, yet several signs along the way declare the road closed. Have they just forgotten to move the signs or has the work overrun? The sign reads that the road will be closed for 'essential gas works' from 27 June to 6 July. But the road closed signs are still there almost a month later? Is it illegal to drive down a road that has a 'road closed' sign even when it's clearly passable?

Hi Skimpans, welcome to the forum, and thanks for the update. Good to know. I guess the work has just taken longer than they first thought.

A useful website for looking up who is responsible for road works is https://roadworks.org/  If you ever get concerned about works in a particular area either locally of anywhere in the country and want to know who are responsible for them and the dates of their permit, just pop in the postcode, street name or town in the search bar and all will be revealed! Just hover your mouse over the relevant symbol on the map that comes up and click on it to show details of what is going on. These Bulls Lane works by National Grid currently show 30 June - 11 August.

Thanks Ferdie, good to know. I suppose they need to update their sign so that it shows the correct dates.

The signs should also say “Closed except evenings and weekends” since it’s been fully open to traffic both ways every time I’ve used it over the last couple of months! Mentioning the actual hours of closure would also be helpful as they do for motorway roadworks signs.
