Title: Brookmans Park Village Day SATURDAY 18th JUNE 2016
Post by: Helen on January 13, 2016, 02:36:51 pm
A few people have asked me when Village Day will be this year so we're delighted to announce that it will take place on Saturday 18th June (back to its usual spot of third Saturday in June).

We will be having our first Committee meeting of the year next week so more details will follow in due course.

Thanks,

Helen Coffer

BROOKMANS PARK PRIMARY SCHOOL is holding its annual Village Day on Saturday 18th June from 1-5pm.
This year's theme is 'Wild West' and we are looking for stall holders to help to make this event as varied as possible. Bookings are still available for:
* Indoor marketplace stall holders (30.00 per stall) A FEW STALLS LEFT
* External pitch stall holders (30.00 per pitch) ONE STALL LEFT
* Balloon Modeller/twister (30 per pitch)

We are still looking for a variety of indoor stalls e.g. homewares, tutoring/children's activities/clubs, clothes, sweet cart, artisan food etc) but do not have further space for jewellery, beauty, toy, book or card stalls.
If you would like to be a part of our event, we would love to hear from you. Please email villagedayexternalstalls[at]gmail[dot]com (or reply to this thread/ message me).

We are also on the lookout for auction and raffle prizes and will in return publicise your business in our programme, online and on the day. Please email us at villagedaycommittee[at]gmail[dot]com if you can help.

In a few weeks' time we'll be asking for our annual donation of crockery and soft toys for our ever-popular Krazy Kitchen and Bag A Cuddly stalls, if you have any that you're looking to get rid of!

Thank you once again for your support - it really is much appreciated.

Regards,

Helen Coffer
PTA Chair

We're delighted to welcome archery, birds of prey, reptiles and creepy crawlies to this year's Wild West-themed Village Day! Children will get a chance to handle, snakes and reptiles and there will be falconry displays during the afternoon.

In keeping with our theme, and because of a cancellation from our perennial Indian food stall, does anyone know of a mobile Mexican food vendor? If so, please put them in touch with us at villagedayexternalstalls[at]gmail[dot]com.

Thank you!

Helen

Due to a cancellation, does anybody know of a Mexican food vendor that would fit in with our Wild Wild West theme on Sat 18th June? Perhaps a nacho cart...?

We've just added some more lovely items to our Village Day online auction, bringing the total of lots up to 49!

Bid for an amazing Make-A-Bear party with Teddy Tastic (https://www.facebook.com/teddytasticlimited/) or a Watch Me Grow package with Photographic Synergy. How about a Short & Sweet session with SOPHIECONNELL PHOTOGRAPHY (https://www.facebook.com/SOPHIECONNELL-PHOTOGRAPHY-243733175958/), where she takes family shots in natural settings? - her recent bluebell shots were just stunning.

We have lots of tutoring sessions available with Kip McGrath, Kumon & private tutor Ian Stewart, Stagecoach courses & even a signed One Direction book. Take another look - https://auctionofpromises.com/VillageDay2016 (https://auctionofpromises.com/VillageDay2016) - the auction closes at 10pm this Friday (10th June).

Thank you,

Helen

A huge thank you to everyone who bid in our online auction - we raised 1,089 & have now contacted all the winner with payment instructions. Come along to Village Day this Saturday (18th June) for the chance to bid for items in our live auction and to win some lovely prizes in our raffle. We will post the final raffle & auction lists soon.

There will be many other fun attractions - as this year has a Wild West flavour, there will be birds of prey displays, archery and the chance to meet lots of reptiles & creepy crawlies. There are fairground rides, land zorbs, go karts and much more, plus many stalls & lots of food & drink, including an all-American BBQ, nacho bar, crepes & waffles & our 'saloon bar' beer tent.

We hope to see lots of you there!

By the way, we're still a bit short of old crockery for our Krazy Kitchen stall, so if anyone has some that they're throwing out feel free to bring it to the school - there are bins provided as you walk down to path to the main entrance. Alternatively please message me.

Thanks.

We're delighted to announce our final raffle and auction list for this Saturday's Village day (I say final, but we always seem to get a few more last minute prizes!). The live auction starts at 3pm by the bar, which staff from the Brookmans have very kindly agreed to man for us again this year. Come along and see our falconry displays, sponsored by Village Vet, and our reptiles and creepy crawlies, archery, land zorbs, go karts and much more!

The Wild West fancy dress parade leaves the village green at 12.45pm and gates open at 1pm.

Thanks once again to Andrew Ward Estate Agents and all our wonderful sponsors and supporters!

Thank you to everyone who came along & supported this year's Village Day. It felt busy all day (helped by the fact it didn't rain this year!) & we were delighted by how many of you embraced the theme & donned Wild West costumes and accessories! We will be in touch with all the raffle and auction winners next week.

Just a short note to say we (and particularly our son) really enjoyed village day. Thanks to everyone involved in organizing it. I thought I would post a few pictures of the birds of prey displayed at the day. I really hope the people running the display found their barn owl in the end.

Thank you sgoldswo & what amazing photos! Do you mind if we use them & add them to the gallery on this forum & on our PTA Facebook page when we get round to adding pictures, as they're much better than my photos (my cowboy hat kept getting in the way!).

Yes, the little barn owl did eventually come down but not until about 8.15pm! She was frightened into a taller tree by two magpies and eventually crossed the railway line and disappeared from view. Happily however, when her owner drove round to look for her she came back to him.

Helen,

Thank you! Very happy for you to use the photos (let me know if you need higher resolution versions) and very glad to hear the over-adventurous barn owl was recovered.

All the best

Simon

I have to congratulate Helen and all the team for organising a brilliant Village Day last Saturday. Well done to everyone on the PTA Show committee! I know how hard you all have to work in the weeks leading up to the day (and a bit afterwards!) and what a great team it takes to make it all so successful. Well done also to all those who aided and abetted in the hours before the show and in the clearing up afterwards.  ;D

House points all round I think!

Thanks John, that's good to hear! Yes, we had a great team and a large army of staff & parent helpers, which helped enormously. Sounds like you've been there, done that & got the t-shirt yourself!

There's a lovely article in this week's WH Times (although, despite what the article say, we don't know exactly how much we've made yet. Still, it feels like a good year).

Although the money is still coming in, we're delighted to announce that so far Village Day has raised around 14,250 for the school! We're all delighted as you can imagine.

I hope to get some photos of the day onto this site over the holidays, but in the meantime some of them can be viewed at https://www.facebook.com/BrookmansParkPta/ (https://www.facebook.com/BrookmansParkPta/)
