Title: Brookmans Park School PTA Car Boot Sale Sun 14th July
Post by: Helen on June 20, 2013, 02:58:15 pm
Please note that we will be holding our first ever (in my memory anyway!) car boot sale on Sunday 14th July at the school. I will confirm times etc in due course but please put it in your diary.

Thanks,

Helen Coffer

More information about the PTA Car Boot Sale is now attached. Although, there's no need to book in advance we'd be grateful if you feel able to, just so we have an idea of numbers, never having done this before. If the event is cancelled you will receive a full refund.

James Bentall & the North Mymms Youth Project will be selling food & drink. It's important to note that there will be no toilet facilities on site so please make other arrangements. Also, sorry but no dogs are allowed on the premises.

Finally, on the afternoon of Village Day a fire engine was not able to get down Bradmore Way because of careless parking. Luckily it was not on call, but if you are a buyer (sellers will obviously be parking on the school field) please consider this when parking your car on the road. Thank you for your understanding.

Any queries, please IM me or email me at brookmanspta@gmail.com.

Just a quick update on the Car Boot Sale - it looks like the weather will be fine for it (which might go some way to making up for Village Day!!) so we look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

I've attached a new flyer because, for anyone who had raised concerns, there will now be toilet facilities available!

Sellers from 10am, 10 a pitch/buyers 2 from 10am or 50p from 11am (children free) - time to have a really good clear out!

I went along at 10 and it was very quiet. I think it was because it was done on the same day and time as the big swanley bar one just up the road.

Did anyone else go? Did it pick up as could not get back later :(

I did grab a few bargains at BP but there was only 5 cars when I left.

Yes, it was rather disappointing. We only got about 10 cars & I know that the weather put off a fair number of people who told me they were going to sell but then changed their minds at the thought of sitting on a field in the sweltering heat. I supsect many buyers decided not to come for the same reason, although we did get some who were also going to the Swanley Bar one.

That said, I myself did OK, both as a buyer & a seller - I only brought a handful of large garden toys as that was all that would fit in my boot, but sold them all & then bought a DS for a tenner & a few other items, so I went home very happy although not much richer!

We were aware that our car boot sale was the same day & time as the Swanley Bar one but we know that many parents have children's activities on a Saturday (& parents at the school were our target market although we obviously welcomed everyone), plus we had hoped that some of the Swanley Bar buyers would also come on to us which a few, but not many, did. This is our first one so we're not put off but will change the day & time next time - we might try a Saturday sale or even one straight after school on a weekday.

Thanks to those of you who did brave the heat & support us!
