Title: Digital Switchover
Post by: sasquartch on April 04, 2012, 08:55:27 am
Don't forget that you will need to re-tune any Freeview receivers you have today as the Crystal Palace switchover happened this morning.

You will also need to retune again on April 18th.

Sky, cable and Freesat are not affected.

Hi, we have Sky & have noticed that although we still get BBC1 through to Channel 5 when Sky is off, when we go through Sky these channels aren't working. Is anyone else having the same problem in this area? I know we probably need to ring Sky but the thought of a 3/4hr-long phone call (half of it on hold) is not particularly appealing so I thought I'd check on here first...

Sounds like these are the analogue channels you are receiving when the Sky box is off.

As these are about to disappear forever (I think BBC2 and CH5 have already gone) once the switchover is complete on 18th April I wouldn't worry about it.

The problem was they weren't working through Sky - anyway, we bit the bullet, had the 3/4hr phone call with Sky & all seems fine now. Their explanation was nothing to do with the Crystal Palace receiver/digital changeover but that it's happening alot because of all the work on the Olympics...apparently!

Collar doves making their nest behind our dish probably won't help with Sky reception either.  :)

Not helpful, I agree! I haven't checked but I wouldn't be surprised if we've got our resident wood pigeons thinking our dish is a tree - they're not the smartest of birds.
