Title: Using the site's calendar

A reminder for those wanting to promote a local, non-commercial community event, please add the details to the site's calendar. Once you do a notification will appear in the 'Upcoming Events' box below the 'Recent Posts' list on the forum's home page.

You can add to the calendar in two ways. 1) By starting a forum topic as a calendar entry or 2) by clicking 'Link to calendar' to an existing entry.

Thanks to trekbat I have now figured out what looked like a glitch in the site's calendar.

You can only use the Link To Calendar feature if you started the original thread. If you want to post in an existing thread about an event that is related to the topic (which wasn't started by you) and link it to the calendar you need to do it by clicking on the calendar tap (in the top navigation).

A reminder that if you are posting about an event you might want to consider adding it to the site's calendar. It's easy to do. Just click on the button below the post marked 'LINK TO CALENDAR' and then fill out the details.

For those adding events to the forum please note that you can also add them to the site's calendar. The first post in this thread explains how.  David

Could those whose posts include important dates PLEASE add them to the site's calendar. This will help others find the information. I have added half a dozen important dates concerning the Hatfield Incinerator protest, public inquiry and other waste management events that had not been added.

To add information to the calendar simply click on the 'LINK TO CALENDAR' tab under the post and add the details. When you do the events will appear in our shared calendar.

The calendar can be accessed from the front page of the site (top left of the main navigation) or via the forum (click on 'CALENDAR' and then 'VIEW CALENDAR')

For example, this is what you will see for September when a number of important incinerator events are held.

The more information we can share the better.  Screen grab of the site's calendar for September attached below.

A reminder (above) for those new to the forum about how to use the site's calendar and add an event. David
