Title: printer recommendation
Post by: Aidan Winwood on October 18, 2011, 07:57:32 pm
Hi All,

My printer has finally reached the point where it works so badly it's about to get hurled off my roof.  Anyone bought one recently that they would recommend.  Not HP preferably, this one has been nothing but trouble!

Basic, print, copy and scan with wireless capability is all I need, not much photo quality printing.

Thanks in advance for any help,
Aidan

Because printer models change so frequently it's hard to keep up with what's good.

I'd suggest buying a magazine with a review - alternatively you would be welcome to pop round and have a look at PC Pro as I get this on subscription - there's bound to be an article on them which hopefully will give some impartial advice. Let me know.

With consumer printers the key thing to look for is running costs - you can buy a cheap laser for next to nothing, only to find that replacing the consumables cost the same amount again  :'(

hi aiden

I use a canon mp610 (now discontinued) Im guessing they have newer models.

its a great unit-print scans copies-go to ebuyer.com  (other sites are available)

i get the carts from ebay 10 for all 5 colours-they are after market units but have had no issue for over 3 years

good luck

A printer with separate cartridges for each colour should be best. Otherwise you have to replace the lot when one colour runs out.
