Any action which improves the lot of the poor pedestrian and cyclist should be welcomed. We need MORE roads blocked off, MORE action against antisocial driving and parking and MORE footpaths/cycle paths (e.g. on Hawkshead Road). A "stinger" on Bradmore Way at 0845 on a schoolday would be quite fun too.

Re Hawkshead Road - the Parish Council has asked for a footpath on the section of that road which does not have one.  It would make life a lot safer for people walking into BP and also between the RVC and Boltons Farm on Hawkshead Rd.  Unfortunately it is a matter of priorities for Highways funding, but at least they know a footpath is very desirable there.

Can we not extend this to a cycle path as well? Large numbers of students / staff cycle to RVC along Hawkshead Road. The road is not wide and the speed limit is high. It is only a matter of time before a cyclist or pedestrian gets killed along this stretch of road given the volume of traffic at the start and end of the school / office day.  A cycle path would also encourage more people to cycle between BP and PB, something to be encouraged surely! It must also be in line with the cycling strategy of both WHDC and HCC. How can we lobby more forcefully to get these improvements in place? Can RVC lend it's weight as well?

The cycle path along Warrengate is hardly used. Why? because cyclists stick to the main road rather than having to stop and cross at every road junction or break.
Even the Sunday club racers use the main road for speed and visibility.

Would love to see a cycle path along there that would be fantastic. Not sure where it would start or end though - would you take it all the way along Hawkshead to the junction with the A1000?

Re: JET's point about the warrangate path - confident cyclists may prefer to use the main road. However, others do use that path. I use it regularly when cycling with the scouts as it gets them off the main road if we are going that way. I also will use it myself - there are no roads to cross (bar one) - it is a good fast path with a good surface and a lot safer than going on the road.

Hi Agent Orange !   You REALLY think RVC:
~  hasn't been thinking about and urging for viable options on ALL such issues for years ???!!!!
~  HAS any weight to get such logical improvements to be carried through  ?   I wish !
