I received two e-mails purporting to come from the website.  Each had an attachment called 'instructions.zip'.
Being the cautious type I deleted both and informed the Editor.

These hackers, or whatever they are, should be hung drawn and quartered for all the problems they cause.

Apparently the first bit - hanging - was not continued until the person died.  The person were taken down and then the other nasties were carried out while still alive.  Now that's what I call a deterrant.

Hi folks,

This thread had turned into a debate about browser and email safety. I have split the thread and put all browser discussions together in a merged thread containing three previous discussions on this topic (click here to view that thread). No posts have been lost and all those who had asked for email alerts for updates will still receive them.

Please ignore any emails that contain the following words -- and please do not open any attached documents. The mail did not come from us and is suspect.

And there is another one doing the rounds. Again,  please ignore any emails that contain the following words -- and please do not open any attached documents. The mail did not come from us and is suspect.

2. Submiting invalid information during the initial sign up process.
3. An innability to accurately verify your selected option of subscription due to an internal error within our processors.

See the details to reactivate your Brookmans account.

A reminder. These messages are still doing the rounds. They are not from this site. The attachments might well be dodgy. Do not open any attachments or click on any links suggested in the emails. Best to have an up-to-date virus protection software running.

Again, we have not sent out any warning messages. Someone has simply copied the address of the site and is using it to try to con people.
