Essendon gardens
« on: June 13, 2005, 12:17:04 pm »
Yesterday many gardens were open to the public at our neighbouring village of Essendon.  The 5 entrance fee went to help maintain the attractive village church.  It was very well organised with free parking on the village cricket field (not on the pitch itself of course)

Cath and I had a most enjoyable afternoon strolling round and admiring the great efforts by many of the villagers, and we were amazed at the variety of gardens and the amount of flowers and shrubs that some people packed into their garden.  No room for weeds!

The back gardens of some cottages had fantastic views across open countryside, and others had a woodland, or a duck pond (with ducks on it) and even a frog pond in one garden.  We can recommend everyone to makes a note to visit Essendon next year when they hold their next event.
