Black & white cat near Moffats Close
« on: September 02, 2017, 02:36:34 pm »
Hi, there's an affectionate black and white (mostly black) cat which is frequently on our drive lying in the sun or sleeping under the hedge. Does it belong to anyone? We've seen it walking down Moffats Lane towards Mymms Drive and just wanted to check it wasn't a stray. It seems to be in good condition.

Hi JandJ, the web is well-stocked with stories about two-timing cats with two homes and sharing their affections with more than one owner. Perhaps s/he has adopted you as their second home? Apparently, some cats can take on up to seven 'owners' at any one time.  ;)

Probably true! We already have two cats though, and they don't see this one as an affectionate new friend!

JandJ sent me two pictures of the visiting cat. Anyone recognise her/him?

This lovely cat has visited me at times.  It's very quiet - I have wondered if it's mute (or just doesn't have much to say!!)
 :)

Thanks Angel. It is a lovely cat so we'd like to know if it does have a home.

The mystery of the black and white cat deepens.

A lady who lives in Moffats Lane dropped off some pictures of a black cat that is a regular visitor to her home. My wife answered the door and told me the following:

Quote
The lady works a cats' protection organisation. She has checked the chip on the cat, and she thinks it is the one on the website, but possible it's a different cat which is why she brought the pictures round (scanned and added below).

Apparently the cat went missing from its home two years ago. A neighbour, also in Moffats Lane, feeds it, but it doesn't live there. The owners want it back, so the plan is to continue feeding it and shut it in the house so the owners can come and pick it up. Otherwise it may have to go to cats protection until they can do something about it.

The lady thinks the cat has been living in Gobions but being fed by various people so it doesn't look like a stray.

Thanks for these. I think this is a different cat. The "original cat" is white on its chin and black on its nose whereas the "Facebook cat" has a white moustache. If anyone can scan microchips we can distract "original cat" long enough to see if he has a chip?

I am told that this particular black cat, the one with the white moustache, is being reunited with its owner shortly after being picked up by cat rescue.
