Bag2School Collection - Brookmans Park Primary School
« on: November 22, 2016, 10:06:54 am »

If anyone is having a clear out and have any clothes and accessories that they no longer need, we would be delighted if you considered donating it to our Bag2School collection.

Bag2School is the UKs leading textile recycler and fundraiser working with schools and since its inception in 2001 they have now paid out over 20 million. As well as raising vitally needed funds for schools around the country, it also helps the environment by helping to divert unwanted textiles away from landfill. Bag2School collects and sells your unwanted textiles to importers and wholesalers in many countries of Eastern and Western Europe, Africa and Asia. Its website states that:

- Over 70% of the world's population use second hand clothes.
- If everyone in the UK bought one reclaimed woollen garment each year, it would save an average 371 million gallons of water and 480 tones of chemical dyestuffs.
- At least 50% of textiles we throw away are recyclable, however, we only recycle around 25%.

The attached letter explains more about the Bag2School collection that we have arranged for 9am on Thursday 1st December. It is a great chance to have a clear out, knowing that the clothes and textiles you donate will go to a good cause rather than landfill, whilst also raising money for your school.

The attached letter contains a list of textiles that are and are NOT collected.

You can bring your Bag2School bags to school any time between now and 9am Thurs 1st Dec.

Please see www.bag2school.com for more details.

Thank you for your support.

Regards,

Brookmans Park School PTA Committee
