New Mums and Toddlers Group
« on: September 12, 2016, 08:33:08 am »
A new Mums and Toddlers Group is starting this Wednesday in the North Mymms Memorial Hall, Station Road from Wednesday 14th September. It is being facilitated by St Mary's Church and is run on a voluntary basis but is open to all and will run from 11am to 12.30 on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. Please note that parents or the child's adult carer will need to accompany the child at all times.

The Mum and Tots Group that started last Wednesday at the Memorial Hall, Welham Green went very well with over 17 Mums, (or carers, grandparents) and the children in attendance. This was a great opportunity to reach out to families in the villages around us and with your support we hope to continue on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month. With Music, Story, Craft, Play, coffee and chat, they meet 11am-12:30pm. Dates for the next couple of months for your diary, 28.9.16, 12.10.16, 26.10.16, 9.11.16 and 23.11.16.

Hi Ferdie, what does that mean? Is this an evangelising initiative? David
The Brookmans Park Newsletter has been supporting the village and our local community since 1998 by providing free, interactive tools for all to use.

Absolutely not. For a number of years there was a Mums & Toddlers Group at the Church, which had a complete mix of parents & children, both with a Church background & none. The leaders of that group were likewise. Due to St Mary's location about a mile away from the centre of Welham Green, many of the Mums couldn't get there and the group closed. There remained a gap in Mums & Tots provision and a need expressed to our Vicar. So to 'piggy back' on the success of the Book Swap at the Church's initiative, we have started this Mums & Tots Group in response to a need. Clearly a need that was met with 17 parents etc. & children. Of course our Vicar is present and will try to be so for the Group over coming months, but there are other volunteers and even a couple of students from the University. All are vetted and have the appropriate level of DBS checks. Anyone is welcome to come, anyone is eligible to help (including you David!) providing that you consent to DBS check. We are 'reaching out to a need'. If someone wants to ignore our initiative or not take part, they are welcome. There is no 'sub agenda' here!  :)

Ive just spotted an error in the URL in the poster.  Letter 's' has been omitted after 'mymm'.
