Spotted some litter? Please let us know...
« on: March 01, 2016, 07:03:48 pm »
North Mymms Youth Project are doing their annual litter pick this Saturday 5th March starting at 2pm.

However, we need to know where the litter is in order to clear it! We will clear some of the usual suspect (around BP and WG Stations are normally safe bets) but if you are aware of any piles of litter that you feel need to be cleared, please post below or call us on 01707 444420.

And of course you are welcome to come and join us - litter pickers, black sacks and gloves provided and Welwyn Hatfield Council have kindly agreed to dispose of any litter we collect. We will be starting at the youth and community centre at 2pm. Last year around 100 people turned up to help; can you help us beat it this year?

Thanks!

Well done to all those involved.

Such a shame that it is necessary though.

The various alleyways between houses and garage blocks in WG are good candidates!

Bradmore Lane is a tricky one because the speed some drivers go down there doesn't always make it safe for us to put small children picking up litter! We will see what we can do....

You are probably right. Not such a good idea with children and the problem is more fly tipping than litter dropping.

Bradmore Lane is strewn with literally hundreds of tin cans from the phantom Stella Artois and Strongbow Cider drinker.

The problem is more one of 'fly dropping' - chucking rubbish out of a moving vehicle.

The amount of rubbish in the hedgerow and verges of Bradmore Lane can only be appreciated on foot.

The Council do not appear to ever litterpack along the entire length of Bradmore Lane.

The woodland behind The Woodman at Water End is strewn with rubbish.

Not sure where it all comes from, possibly when the water level rises around the swallow holes litter gets washed up onto higher ground.

The stretch of Kentish Lane and the Greek church is strewn with rubbish, and the road to Colney Heath past the North Mymms war memorial is a disgrace, with great sheets of plastic festooning the barbed wire fencing. I filled in a form this time last year for the council to clear that - but they didn't.
This is a very worthy cause and although I won't be joining the litter pickers on Sunday, I'd like to put my money where my mouth is. Could someone advise how I can make a financial contribution?
