May Day Celebration
« on: March 23, 2016, 03:54:14 pm »
This year Welwyn Hatfield Mayor Lynne Sparks will open the May Day event at 2.00pm on Saturday 30th April at Bradmore Green, Brookmans Park.

There will be Maypole dancing by children from local schools, a Punch & Judy show and a group of Morris Dancers will perform traditional dances. We will have a Tombola stall and Village Stocks run by the Rotary club. We are also hoping that there’ll be other attractions such as face painting and a human fruit machine.

If you would like to run a stall on the day the charge is £10 for a 3m x 3m pitch, all proceeds of your stall are yours to keep. Please contact enquiries@brookmansparkrotary.org.uk.

How did it go Marty? I got back from a month-long trip away to find everyone clearing up. Any pictures?

We had a great event yesterday, well done to everyone that took part. Especially the children from Brookmans Park and St Giles schools. Their Maypole dances were a real treat. The sun shone and the mayor of Welwyn Hatfield, Lynne Sparks, opened proceedings. The Etcetera Morris men gave a great demonstration of Morris dancing and our resident Punch & Judy man, Geoff Barrett kept the children enthralled.
