Herts & Essex air ambulance cold callers.
« on: March 27, 2015, 06:52:54 pm »
Today in the area of THE GARDENS Brookmans Park an elderly lady was persuaded by collectors to pass her bank card details for a weekly lottery for the Herts Air Ambulance. The collector had called at her door and whilst filling in the forms had asked to use her toilet. The lady has phoned her daughter afterwards, who is not local to the area, and told her what had happened. The daughter has called police thinking her mother had been the victim of a distraction burglary. She has cancelled her mothers bank card. This is a reputable charity and a worthy cause but I would suggest not suitable to be asking the elderly and vulnerable for bank card details. If collectors like this knock at your door I would ask that if you have an elderly person living next door to you, you tell them not to call there as you are looking out for them.
Please look out for your neighbours, it could be your mum or dad being hassled by these collectors.
