Thanks Angel, I have signed, tweeted, shared on our Facebook page, and here is a grab of the text for those who want to know more about what it's about before clicking through. I've also promoted the issue/discussion on the front page.

The Save Our Buses campaign has sent out a reminder that 1) the deadline for signing the petition is Oct 8, and 2) that there will be a gathering outside County Hall on that day at noon with speakers from Campaign for Better Transport and 38 Degrees.

I have just been sent an email reminder of the Hertfordshire save our buses gathering at Hertfordshire County Hall on Wednesday at noon. The email included a link to the group's Facebook page.

Save Our Buses Hertfordshire handed in a petition at County Hall on Wednesday, and the group has just emailed people who signed an update. There are details of the latest from the campaign on the group’s Facebook page.

There is an article about the campaign on the 38 Degrees site.

And there is an invitation for those who haven’t signed the petition yet to do so.

The group campaigning to protect Hertfordshire's buses have just sent me an email with the following information.

Quote
Thank you for supporting the campaign to save bus services in Hertfordshire.

In just over a week a Hertfordshire County Council panel of councillors will meet to consider responses to the consultation and petitions – and then decide whether to implement cuts to our bus services – or not.

If you can, please try to attend this meeting to show the strength of feeling against these cuts and the damaging effects they will have on our lives.

The Highways and Waste Management Cabinet Panel will meet on Tuesday 4 November at 10am in the council chamber at County Hall in Hertford. Anyone can attend this meeting. We will assemble at the main entrance of County Hall at 9.30am with banners and placards so please join us there.

Councillors in Hertfordshire will decide this week whether to cut some local bus routes. The meeting is on Tuesday November 4. Below is a link to a page where you can email councillors if you oppose plans to cut local bus services. I have just sent my email.

An update through today from Terry Figg:

"Dear Friends, Many thanks to all of you who came to County Hall on Tuesday this week to see what the panel of councillors was going to decide on the proposed cuts to funding to our bus services.

After 2˝ hours of debate and argument the panel voted to hold a new consultation – with different options. A more detailed account on this meeting will be posted on our website www.save-our-buses.org.uksoon, together with all the recent press coverage. The new consultation is probably going to be held in January 2015 with the results not known until after the General Election.

So, bus services will continue as they are now – for the moment. This gives us some time to regroup and consider our next moves. One proposal is to set up groups that could work locally to let more people know what damage is being planned to our bus services – and get more people to support this campaign.

We will be in touch soon.

Many thanks for your continued support.

Best regards,

Terry”
