Free tube travel for Herts pensioners?
« on: November 19, 2004, 11:10:38 am »
Can someone please put me out of my misery? Earlier this week  I heard a news roundup on  Three Counties Radio, where I'm sure a reference was made to forthcoming "free tube travel for pensioners living in South Herts".

Did I mishear the announcer? Was this Greene King induced hallucinations? Does anybody know any more on this?

Roger Newark (soon to be South Herts pensioner who might like to travel by tube)

The free tube travel for pensioners is called a 'Freedom Pass' - there's information about it here - http://www.freedompass.org/home.html however no mention of what you said above. Your best bet would probably be to phone Transport for London on 0207 222 1234 who would be able to give you more details.

Spoke to TFL - no knowledge, "speak to your local council". Spoke to WH, "not us, probably Watford, as the Metropolitan line goes there, and they have had arrangements like this before".

Ah well, another pipedream disappears in a puff of smoke!
