The tweet below was sent out by Hertfordshire Police but the link is missing if you 'click here' as recommended, so I have added it below.

During the last couple of days there has been a noticed rise in scam phone calls to residents of Brookmans Park. The callers are saying they are police officers from either the Met Police or Herts police. The general incidents being reported are that your bank cards have been used in Birmingham. The person who is calling says you can call back to verify that it is the police but they have not hung up and you just get through to them again.
Please do not be fooled buy these calls they are not police and police would never ask you for your pin numbers or bank details. All calls so far have been ignored by residents and herts police informed. If you have received a call and hung up on them please repot to us on 101 non emergency number.
Thank you.

We’ve just had a neighbourhood watch alert re a phone scam operating in the area. It coincided with this tweet being sent out by @HertsPolice.

There’s a scam doing the rounds which tricks people into calling a number that costs them £1.50 a minute. According to police, mobile phone users get a missed call notification from a number beginning with 070 or 076. When they call the number back the call either drops immediately or they hear an engaged tone. All the time the victim is being charged. Officers from the Neighbourhood Watch team say some callers have also heard a recorded message suggesting a bad line and encouraging them to ring back and be charged a second time.
