Upkeep of Footpaths in Welham Green
« on: July 02, 2014, 08:08:10 pm »
Welham Green is blessed with a number of footpaths, away from roads, typically threading between and behind houses, often as access to Council garage blocks.

The one we use, to access the garages off Sibthorpe Road, is getting very difficult to negotiate, particulaarly in wet weather, due to under- and over- growth.

Which Council department is most likely to respond to requests for a clean-up, please? The Council website doesn't make it obvious, and I've failed to elicit a response from the garages team. Though they might benefit, as a large ivy bush is trying to demolish one of their garage units!

Perhaps try Dawn Grocock, Countryside Access Officer, Public Rights of Way Service, Hertfordshire County Council. Tel: 01992 555235 or email dawn (dot) grocock (at) hertfordshire (dot) gov (dot) uk

Hi Nimbus,

In case it helps, here is Dawn's latest update on the upkeep of public rights of way in North Mymms. The Herts CC rights of way map should help make sense of the numbers below.

Yes, worthwhile having that linked here, as well as where I saw it previously. Sadly, it was my earlier sighting of this document which led to the enquiry in my OP, as most of the paths I describe are not recorded as rights of way on the Herts CC map. I believe them to be the responsibility of WHBC.
