OWL message: metal thefts from telecomms masts
« on: May 14, 2014, 04:38:29 pm »
Dear Watch Member,

We have seen an emerging series of thefts of copper cables from telecommunication masts across Hertfordshire, with twenty such thefts having been reported to us over the past three months.  These crimes involve the theft of high value materials and have a detrimental impact on the county’s communication networks and other infrastructure.

We are therefore asking residents to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity seen in the vicinity of telecommunications masts.

If you notice suspicious activity in the vicinity of a telecommunications mast and believe that a crime may be in progress, please dial 999.  If you have any non-urgent information about these crimes, please call the police non-emergency number, 101.
