Public access defibrillator for Brookmans Park
« on: April 14, 2014, 02:01:25 pm »
A big thanks to the Rotary Club from all of us at the URC for organising such a great quiz evening in the church on Saturday. We're very pleased to be in partnership with them to raise money for a public access defibrillator for the village.

This year we at the United Reformed Church in the village have been working to raise money for a defibrillator to be available to anyone who needs this life saving piece of equipment. We were delighted when the Rotary Club joined us in this effort and their assistance, especially with the hugely successful quiz evening, was invaluable, indeed most of the money came from them and for that we are very grateful indeed. We would also like to acknowledge the contribution of the Residents Association, who gave a donation, and all who took part in the Arts Festival, the proceeds of which took us "over the line", especially the talented village painters and Mr Ted Beament whose evening of Jazz in the church in June was unforgettable.

It is with great pleasure that we are able to say that the defibrillator is now registered with the ambulance service, installed on the outside of our building and ready for use.

Well done to everyone concerned. I've merged the post with an existing thread on this topic and tweeted.

thanks David - we plan to have an event of some kind to celebrate soon and hope to get the ambulance service to come and do a demonstration and explain the way it all works (I saw this at a meeting of the Rotary and found it very useful and interestingI

There will be a demonstration of the use of the public access defibrillator this evening at the United Reformed Church at 7 pm. All are welcome to see how this potentially life saving piece of equipment work.
