Coppicing on the Hatfield Park estate at West End
« on: March 14, 2013, 07:13:59 pm »
Some fairly drastic coppicing going on at the top of the footpath from The Candlestick at West End down to the River Lea (featured on Walk 5 in our series). I suppose they know what they are doing because the estate does make a good job of maintaining and replacing hedgerows, but this coppicing seems to come at a strange time of the year with the nesting season about to kick off. Perhaps it's the best time for the trees to grow back.
