A word of warning - Independent Shop of the year
« on: November 17, 2012, 11:21:52 am »
Some of you may have seen flyers or posters in the village shops about the 'WelHat Independent Shop of the Year' competition that is being run, asking you to nominate your favourite local shop for the chance of winning 100.

On the small print on the website (Which I have deliberately NOT posted the address of here) is the following information

Quote
By voting for your favourite retailer you are freely providing your information which will only be used by Grant.

Our local MP is behind the initiative, and it appears to be a cheap way (100 prize!) for him to collect yet more personal information from locals and add them to his mailing list for political purposes. So, enter if you like - just be aware that you will probably end up getting info from the Conservative Party as well as your 'reward'!

Well spotted James, thanks for the warning.

Our local fishmonger's Hammersley's have been informed they are among the top 5. For a small village retailer to do so well in the whole borough is excellent. Ian and Lorraine are great people and provide terrific service to the village. Well done. Final results at the  House of Commons on Wednesday. Good Luck to them.
